Ambient Art®, an evidence-based art delivery method of the Catherine Mayer Foundation, is composed of multi sensory art of line drawings, animation, and music displayed on HD displays in settings such as healthcare, education, hospitality, and corporations. These curated pieces are aimed at creating positive energy and attitudinal changes in the viewer. Swedish clinics across the Puget Sound were interested in trying out Ambient Art® in their lobbies and in the patient rooms to see how their patients might be affected.

A curation of locally themed pieces were compiled together so that viewers would have a stronger connection. Installations were placed in First Hill, Bellevue, Renton, and Richmond Beach locations.
We were told my medical staff that patients loved the presence of Ambient Art®. At the Richmond Beach location, staff had indicated that patients would come back to the clinic to view the art, even when they didn’t have an appointment.
Ambient Art®, an evidence-based art delivery method of the Catherine Mayer Foundation, is one of three pillars of The Catherine Mayer Foundation. The others include The L.A.U.G.H.® App and L.A.U.G.H™ Art Experiences.
"Patients have come back to the clinic to view the Ambient Art® –and they don’t even have appointments!"
All of the Ambient Art® pieces used for the Swedish installations were composed of separate locally themed pieces that were compiled together to provide a diverse gallery. Each piece is an inspired drawing done by Catherine Mayer. Some are digitally created, but others have been traditional paintings or drawings. Each art piece was deconstructed and woven into a story that unfolds for the viewer. Storyboarding is a critical component of the process prior to animation. A custom music soundtrack was then composed for certain pieces taking into account the theme and mood of the installation. Installations were placed in First Hill, Bellevue, Renton, and Richmond Beach hospital and clinic locations. To measure the success of the installations, customer feedback cards were printed and available in the common areas for viewers to leave feedback.
